The wood grains may be darker in spots but that is due to the distressed look of the wood. It looks to be made very well, and was easy to put together. The middle drawer can easily be used as a keyboard tray and the two side drawers have limited room but enough to put desk necessities. One of the side drawers comes with a wood tray to lay on the top. This can be used to write on or for a mouse. Very convenient. Delivery took a bit longer than I expected, but the delivery process was easy. I am very happy with the desk.
